Mary Jo was born and raised on a farm south of Dubuque. She graduated from Metropolitan State University of Denver with a degree of Bachelor of Science in Accounting. She received her CPA license in 1991. Mary Jo worked for a CPA firm in Englewood, CO before moving back to Dubuque. She has worked the last 25 years in Dubuque with a firm formerly known as Gavin-McDonald PC. She is married, has two children and two grandchildren. She lives with her husband, 2 adopted dogs, an adopted cat, and a "grand-dog". Mary Jo enjoys spending time with her family, cooking, reading, and gardening.
